How to be a Colibri

The legend of the hummingbird

One day, the Amazon rainforest caught fire. The flames devoured everything in their path, and panic spread among the animals of the forest. All of them fled, except one small hummingbird. It flew tirelessly to the river, took a few drops of water in its beak and let them fall on the fire, again and again. The other animals, astonished, mocked it: 'Hummingbird! You will never put out this fire with a few drops!' And the hummingbird replied: 'I know... but I am doing my part!' Little by little, its courage moved the others. The animals began to act too, each in their own way. And together, drop after drop, they managed to calm the flames. Native American legend of the hummingbird, as told by Mr Pierre Rabhi.

How do you do it?

Being a hummingbird means doing your part, however small it seems, to protect nature and your own health.

Plastic pollution today affects more than just the environment: it ends up in the water we drink. The microplastics and pollutants found in bottles and in tap water are a reminder that what we do has a direct effect on our wellbeing.

To be a hummingbird, you can follow the three Rs:

Reduce

Reduce

Buy less bottled water and choose lasting solutions instead, such as high-performance purification systems.

Less plastic means less risk to our health and to nature.

Reuse

Reuse

Use a glass or stainless steel bottle, filled with clean, filtered water.

It avoids pollution and protects the body from the unwanted substances found in some plastics.

Recycle

Recycle

When plastic still has to be used, sort it properly so it can be turned into something new rather than polluting the oceans and coming back one day on our plates.

Like the hummingbird that, drop by drop, tries to put out the fire by doing its part.

We firmly believe that every filter installed, every plastic bottle avoided and every centilitre of pure water drunk can make a difference.
